15 years ago, Geospatial Intelligence Pty Ltd founder and CEO, Rob Coorey, had a vision to “Assist clients to collect, analyse and interpret, location-based information that could support them in their decision-making processes”. Today Rob leads a core team, plus consulting experts and researchers, that have turned this vision into a reality.
Rob has a long history with the Australian Space Industry. In 1994, he established the ESRI Australia Canberra office and later established ESRI Australia Defence. He joined Raytheon Australia in 2000 as General Manager of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance where he developed a new concept for environmental surveillance using innovative technologies and was instrumental in establishing the first commercial high-resolution earth observation satellite ground station in Australia. In 2002 he identified a need for the development of new geospatial products and services that meet defined customer needs…..and Geospatial Intelligence Pty Ltd was born.
15 years later, Geospatial Intelligence supports the entire life-cycle of geographic information systems, from requirements studies, through to system design, data analysis, management, integration and dissemination, the development of new algorithms for machine learning and artificial intelligence, ongoing support and training. These services help Defence, Intelligence, Government and Private Sector clients to make more informed decisions, achieve better commercial outcomes, and deliver better services to the community.
At a time when Australia is establishing a National Space Agency, Geospatial Intelligence is proud to be a wholly Australian owned space company with experience, a global reach, and a clear understanding of customer needs. Our ability to provide timely, high quality intelligence comes from access to the highest quality data and our ability to turn this into reliable information using custom algorithms and domain expertise.
Geospatial Intelligence is the Australian re-seller for Airbus, Digital Globe and exactEarth. This gives us, and our customers, access to high resolution radar and optical satellite imagery which we integrate with AIS (Automatic Identification System) data, GPS, and non-spatial information, to provide our clients with powerful intelligence that allows them to see and understand context, relationships, patterns or trends.
This experience paves the way for the integration of future data sources, including data that may be generated from an Australian satellite or high-altitude platform.
Geospatial Intelligence is proud of the solutions we have developed for maritime surveillance, emergency management, agriculture, urban planning and defence applications. Most recently we delivered geo-information services to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) including oil spill detection.
