The Position
Geospatial Intelligence is looking for an enthusiastic analyst with GIS and/or Remote Sensing experience to join our team. We are looking for someone who will be able to quickly understand and absorb new concepts, and acquire skills on the job.

This is a full-time position based in Canberra.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pre-processing, analysis and enhancement of high resolution satellite imagery
  • Use of GIS software to digitise, perform analysis and create maps and reports
  • Follow schemas relating to AI training data creation
  • Manipulation of metadata, database management, administration and documentation
  • Client engagement for project scoping
  • Content creation for social media

Desired Skills:

  • A strong understanding of vector and raster data types and best practice when using them
  • Working knowledge of the ArcGIS software suite or other GIS software
  • Demonstrated experience with remote sensing software
  • Experience with optical and radar imagery
  • Technical knowledge of satellite sensors, satellite imagery and image processing techniques
  • Academic knowledge of remote sensing of the terrestrial and/or maritime environments, and knowledge of meteorology
  • Advanced experience with Excel or other spreadsheet software
  • Experience in the Python programming language
  • Excellent attention to detail, self-motivation, initiative and capacity to learn
  • Ability to work in a team environment, or under supervision and the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills, a mature attitude and good interpersonal and client service skills
  • A strong work ethic with a proactive approach to opportunities

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have completed a relevant tertiary qualification in GIS or a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience
  • A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances
